10 March 2012

I think it’s the first time since I have finished my studies that I had to wake up so early… I am really not use to it, but strangely I was so fresh! So exited about the coming day! What helped me as well, was a real Italian espresso, I usually don’t drink coffee…I actually hate it! This morning was my first good experience with coffee and I felt so powerful for the entire day.

I drove 4hours and half before I arrived in Catania and with a really strong wind it has been very hard to keep the car going straight on the road. I freaked out a few times, but thank god everything went well. At 10.30AM I finally arrived on Mount Etna near Catania, in a small town called Passopisciaro where I found the winery carrying the same name as the town. Mount Etna is actually a volcano still in activity!

I literally fall in love with Passopisciaro winery … For the first time I tried such of grapes like Nerello Mascalese and Cesanese d’affile.

snow on the road!

Same still than Burgundy wines, so elegant and fresh. Some vines of that winery are located between 800 to 1000 meters High! I didn’t even know vine could still give quality grape at that altitude. I have found snow on the road when I was about to arrive at the winery.
